Update: I'm Back! Starting from Square One.

The last post I had was right before I started school and now that the classroom part of school is for the most part over, I'm taking this chance, while there's a lull, to start up baking again. This time hopefully there won't be any extended breaks. This is kind of baking rebirth for me and I want to take a more personal approach to this blog and about how I share my baking.

So what have I been up to these last 2 years?

Besides attempting to kill myself by studying every possible hour of my life aannnd  I've done some growing up.  Two years ago, baking and having a happy relationship with my parents were two mutually exclusive things. I'm happy to say things have changed, I'm no longer driven to be the absolute best, it doesn't exist, now I'm motivated to be the best me. To some people there isn't a difference but to me, it's a world of a difference. It's the difference between being just successful and being happy and successful. It's a world were I can bake and have good relationship with my parents. It's a world that never could've existed previously, that I couldn't even have dreamed was possible. I can't express how much it means to me that I've found a way to have both =D

Square One

So where does square one start for me anyway now?? Square one is finally having a space of my own, where I can bake, experiment and decorate. (Thanks Dad). This is probably the best I can hope for. My parents will always be the kind to scold me about:

  • how much cheaper it would be if I just bought baked goods,
  • how much I'm running up the electricity/gas/water bill,
  • how I'm make the whole house smell (good if you ask me),
  • how I use too much butter and sugar and I'll get heart disease or fat,
and I'll always still need to bake after 7 or 9 or on the weekends when the electricity rate is at it's lowest. But so far, it's the best and words can't explain how happy I am about that.

So in my week off from school, I spent my week scrubbing almost every surface of this:
note the broken faucet

and turning it into this:

As well as trying to bake as much as I possibly could. This included a lot of running back and forth and up and down because I don't have enough stuff to justify powering another fridge and because I didn't have running water to wash dishes. But despite all that. I'm still goofy smiley face happy.

New baking blogs to come, I've been experimenting and refining and I can't wait to share my stuff with you. The baking always comes before the blogging so if you follow me on instagram or twitter, you'll be more up to date on what's coming. I swear I'll start using them more too =)

Let me know if you guys have any requests for things you want to see me recreate/make for you Michener kids to eat =P
